NXP HITAG 1 CARD

2048bit Memory with 32 bit UID Hitag 1 Contactless ID Card

 

The HITAG 1 stick transponder HT1DC20S30, based on the HITAG tag IC, is a high performance transponder for bi-directional data transmission in full-duplex mode. Data is stored in the transponder in a non-volatile memory (EEPROM).

The transponder acts as a passive device, thus not having the need for any internal power supply (battery).

It derives power from the magnetic component of the RF resonant frequency generated by the reader. Data is transmitted by modulating this resonant frequency.

The HT1DC20S30 is dedicated for use in secure access systems where the transponder and the reader have to identify each other.

The EEPROM has a capacity of 2048 bits and is organised in 64 pages. Access is provided either in page mode or in block mode, where 1 block includes 4 pages.

Data transmission from the HT1DC20S30 to the reader uses Manchester or biphase coding and Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) modulation. Absorption modulation is used to transmit data from the transponder to the reader. The transponder absorbs the magnetic field which hence modulates the current in the reader antenna.

Data transmission from the reader to the HT1DC20S30 uses Binary Pulse Length Modulation (BPLM).

The anticollision feature of the transponder allows to operate several transponders simultaneously in the field of the reader antenna. To use that feature, the reader needs to have implemented the anticollision protocol and must be able to detect bit-collisions (e.g. the Philips HTRM800 long range reader module includes the anticollision protocol.

The Hitag 1 card have 2048-bit total memory with 32 bit serial number and 32 bit secret key.

Hitag1 based transponders are highly integrated and do not need any additional components beside the external coil.

Data between Key (RWD) and transponder is transmitted bidirectionally, in Half Duplex Mode. The HITAG 1 transponder IC offers also an encrypted data transmission.

NXP HITAG 2 CARD

HITAG 2 based transponders are highly integrated and do not need any additional
components beside the HITAG 2 transponder IC and the external coil. Data are
transmitted bidirectionally, in half duplex mode, between Read Write Device (RWD) and
HITAG transponder IC. To achieve a main stream security, data may be transmitted
enciphered. HITAG 2 transponder IC offer a memory of 256 bit.
Custom specific configuration of the transponder IC is possible by using the configuration
page. The configuration page allows the selection of different modes and access
possibilities and also the configuration of the memory. The pages of the memory can be
protected against read or write access by setting corresponding memory flags.
The HITAG 2 transponder IC provides – besides password and crypto mode – the following
three standard read only modes, that can be configured using the configuration byte:
• public-mode A
• public-mode B (animal identification, according to ISO 11784 and ISO 11785)
• public-mode C (PIT compatible mode PCF793x)

NXP HITAG S 2048 Card

The HITAG product line is well known and established in the contactless identification
market.
Due to the open marketing strategy of NXP Semiconductors there are various
manufacturers well established for both the transponders / cards as well as the
Read/Write Devices. All of them supporting HITAG 1 and HITAG 2 transponder IC’s. With
the new HITAG S family, this existing infrastructure is extended with the next generation of
IC’s being substantially smaller in mechanical size, lower in cost, offering more operation
distance and speed, but still being operated with the same reader infrastructure and
transponder manufacturing equipment.
One Protocol – two memory options.
The protocol and command structure for HITAG S is based on HITAG 1, including
anticollision algorithm.
Two different memory sizes are offered and can be operated using exactly the same
protocol.
• HITAG S256 with 256 bit Total Memory Read/Write
HITAG S2048 with 2048 bit Total Memory Read/Write
