Infineon’s my-d™ products are available in plain mode with open memory access and in secure mode with memory access controlled by authentication procedures. Architectural interoperability of my-d™ products enables an easy migration from simple to more demanding applications.

Flexible controls within the my-d™ devices start with plain mode operation featuring individual page locking; for more complex applications various settings in secure mode can be set for multi user / multi application configurations. In plain mode access to the memory is supported by 4-byte block as well as 8-byte page structure. In secure mode a cryptographic algorithm based on a 64-bit key is available. Mutual authentication, message authentication codes (MAC) and customized access conditions protect the memory against unauthorized access. Configurable Value Counters featuring anti-tearing functionality are suitable for value token applications, such as limited use transportation tickets.

Near field communication (NFC) tags (also referred as  NFC sticker tag or NFC smart labels) are a short-range RF technology that use a base frequency of 13.56 MHz. It is a standards-based, secure contactless communication technology that enables devices that are close to each other to exchange data with just a tap. Today, NFC is enabled in a billion-plus smartphones and are natively supported by smartphone OS platforms such as iOS and Android. This massive device adoption coupled with ease of use has fueled widespread deployment of near field communication tags in a number of commercial and consumer applications.

Infineon NRG™ SLE 66R35 Card

NRG™ SLE 66R35x

The NRG™ SLE 66R35x offering is suited for the use in multi-application schemes, for example combining a transportation fare collection scheme and a ticketing system such as a stadium ticketing. Both applications can be performed with the same card, as hierarchical key management is supported.

The RF communication interface transmits at 106 kbit/s resulting in short transaction times, the effect being that a card user can move freely through a reader gate with minimum disruption. A typical ticketing transaction can be handled in less than 100 ms. Robust contactless transmission means that the card with SLE 66R35x may also remain in the wallet of the user even if there are coins in it.

Security Features

Access to SLE 66R35x is only allowed after a three-pass authentication. For SLE 66R35E7 the serial number is unique for each card and cannot be changed. Each data transmission is enciphered. Protection from misuse is done by configurable access conditions that are protected by secret keys used for memory operations such as read or write.

The dual interface security controllers SLE 66CLX800PE(M) belong to the family of the Infineon
Technologies SLE 66CxxxPE high-end security controller family in 0.22 µm CMOS technology which are designed for contactless security systems that requires continuous ongoing improvements with the highest degree of protection against fraudulent attacks. SLE 66CLX800PE(M) is targeting dual interface and pure contactless smart card applications such as national electronic passports, ID cards, banking, security access, digital signature, SIM cards with embedded contactless interface and transport.
SLE 66CLX800PE(M) offers 240 Kbytes of User-ROM, 256 bytes internal RAM, 6 Kbytes XRAM, 700 bytes Crypto RAM and 80 Kbytes EEPROM, which can be used as data and as program memory. The non-volatile memory consists of high reliability cells to guarantee data integrity. This is especially important when the EEPROM is used as program memory.
It features ISO/IEC 14443 Type B contactless interfaces and Type A and ISO/IEC 7816 contactbased interface on a single chip that can be operated in parallel to answer the need of the upcoming mobile phones with a contactless interface . They also support symmetric and asymmetric public-key algorithms such like DES, 3DES, Elliptic Curves and RSA independently of the
communication mode.

The Target of Evaluation (TOE), the SLE66CX322P with RSA2048 chip, is a smart card IC
(Security Controller) meeting the highest requirements in terms of performance and security. It is
manufactured by Infineon Technologies AG in a 0,22 µm CMOS technology. The IC is intended to
be used in smart cards for particularly security-relevant applications.
In this security target the TOE (target of evaluation) is described and a summary specification is
given. The security environment of the TOE during its different phases of the lifecycle is defined.
The assets are identified which have to be protected through the security policy. The threats
against these assets are described. The security objectives as the objectives of the security policy
are defined as well as the security requirements. The requirements are built up of the security
functional requirements as part of the security policy and the security assurance requirements as
the steps during the evaluation and certification to show the TOE meets its requirements. The
functionality of the TOE to meet the requirements is described.

The SLE 66CX360PE is another member of the improved 66PE-series of Infineon Technologies. This high performance security crypto controller is manufactured in advanced 0.22 µm CMOS technology. It is downward compatible to existing 66P controller derivatives. The well known ECO2000 8/16 bit CPU provides the high efficiency of the SAB 8051 instruction set extended by additional powerful instructions together with enhanced performance, memory sizes and security features compared to existing 66P derivatives.
Performance: The internal clock frequency can be adjusted to a level up to 33 MHz either as a multiple of 1,2,3,4 to the external frequency or independent of the clock rate of the terminal with the help of the internal clock. It is adjustable according to either available power requirements or required performance.

Infineon Smart Card Modules

The Infineon Smart Card Modules and innovative Coil on Module (CoM) packaging technology from Infineon uses a radio frequency link instead of the mechanical/electrical
connection typically used between the card antenna and the module. This improves the robustness and long-term reliability of dualinterface (DIF) payment cards as well as ID documents and simplifies card design, manufacturing and logistics, making these processes
more efficient and up to five times faster than with conventional technologies.

CoM design featuring inductive coupling
Inductive coupling technology for DIF applications employs two antennas, one on the module and one on the card inlay. These antennas

The my-d® products are designed to meet increased demands for security and design flexibility.
The family of contactless memory my-d® supplies the user with different memory sizes and
incorporates security features to enable considerable flexibility in the application design.
The functional architecture, meaning the memory organisation and authentication of my-d®
products is the same for both, my-d® proximity (ISO/IEC 14443) and my-d® vicinity
(ISO/IEC 18000-3 mode 1 or ISO/IEC 15693). This eases the system design and allows simple
adaptation between applications.
All my-d® products are available in plain mode with open memory access and in secure mode with
memory access controlled by authentication procedures.
Flexible controls within the my-d ICs start with plain mode operation and individual page locking for
more complex applications various settings in secure mode can be set for multi user / multi
application configurations.
In secure mode a cryptographic algorithm based on 64-bit key is available. Mutual authentication,
message authentication codes (MAC) and customized access conditions protect the memory
against unauthorized access. Configurable value counters featuring anti-tearing functionality are
suitable for value token applications, such as limited use transportation tickets.
Architectural interoperability of all my-d® products enables an easy migration from simple to more
demanding applications.
In addition, the my-d® light (ISO/IEC 18000-3 mode 1 or ISO/IEC 15693) is part of the my-d®
family. Its optimized command set and memory expands the range of applications to cost sensitive
segments.

SLE4428 Card

SLE4428 Secure Memory Card is one of the most popular “Smart Memory Cards” in the world.  This chip includes an intelligent 256-Byte EEPROM with Write Protect Function and Programmable Security Code (PSC).  The chip contains an EEPROM organized 1024 x 8 bit offering the possibility of programmable write protection for each byte. Reading of the whole memory is always possible. The memory can be written and erased byte by byte. Input data and the contents of the adressed byte are compared so that only bits are written which were not written before. Erasing is only possible byte-wise, even if only one bit is to be erased, but bits may be written individually. Each byte can be write/eraseprotected individually by setting a protect bit (EEPROM → ROM). The protect bit is only one time programmable and cannot be erased.
